Examining Codes of Ethics
I like that the NAEYC has a standard for excellence in early childhood education. Also, the DEC code of ethics has two codes that stand out for me. These are:
1. We shall honor and respect our responsibilities to colleagues while upholding the dignity and
autonomy of colleagues and maintaining collegial interprofessional and intraprofessional
relationships.
2. We shall engage in ongoing and systematic reflective inquiry and self-assessment for the
purpose of continuous improvement of professional performance and services to young children
with disabilities and their families.

Quotes from Education Philosophers and Innovators
President Lyndon B. Johnson – “We set out to make certain that poverty's children would not be forevermore poverty's captives. We called our program Project Head Start.”
Louise Derman-Sparks – “Children’s success in education is not based on the lack of innate intelligence, but the lack of the necessary tools to succeed”.

Personal Childhood Web
The people that have influenced my life include the following:
My mother: She taught me how to cook and to be a mother. She has influenced my development and my life by caring for me.
My father: He taught me to be strong and decisive. He is a strong disciplinarian, and this influenced me as a parent to my own children.
My fourth grade teacher (Mrs. Vaughn): Mrs. Vaughn enrolled me in the girl scouts and the 4-H club. This helped to build up my social skills.
My pastor: Pastor Jones helped me build moral values and character.
My girl scout master: Mrs. King influenced my life by supporting my efforts and helping me to become self-sufficient.

About Me
My name is Tammie Bolden. I am a Head Start teacher in Sunflower County. I enjoy working in Head Start becuase it gives me the opportunity to work with children. One child was able to read last year, and that confirmed that Head Start is a much needed service. Also, I believe that every child can learn if they are given the right instruction. I always use children's books to help children learn to read. My favorite is still the Dr. Seuss ABC book. I plan to extend my career in Head Start by continuing to teach children and possibly moving into administration.
